"I have always loved making things, constructing, deconstructing and reconstructing. I am interested in life's experiences, both real and imagined, awakening memories and opening doors." Sandy McEwan graduated from Grays School of Art in 2006 with a degree in Fine Art Printmaking, having won the RSA Student Show Special Purchase prize. Her work features maps folded or cut to represent children's clothing, her pieces recall her childhood experiences spent travelling in Africa during the 1950s. She adds, "I am fascinated by the relationship between the past and the present in our lives, especially the way these collide through memories which resurface unbidden."
