Nicola graduated from Gray's School of Art, Aberdeen in 1997 and has since exhibited widely throughout the UK.
Based in Perth, she uses Biro pens to create her images of familiar items. The choice of subject matter is rooted in snippets of conversation and treasured memories. It mainly focusses on objects and food related items from her own childhood. She uses a variety of surfaces from heavy duty watercolour paper, ordnance maps, to old newspapers. She meticulously builds up layers of colour using Bic Crystal pens to achieve her own unique style. Acrylic paint is used only to block in the background and provide a contrast for her subject matter.
