Margaretann Bennett RSW

Biography

Since graduating from Glasgow School of Art in 1991, Margaretann Bennett has become one of Scotland's most exciting artists working in mixed media today. Painting across all genres, the surfaces of her canvases are rich with colour and texture, treading a fine line between abstraction and detail. This is most evident in her landscape paintings that depict Scotland as a collection of experiences and events, an evocation of lives lived and time passed, rather than a specific place. Margaretann is a member of the Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolour and has been the recipient of a number of art awards including The Armour Award at the RGI in 2006 and the William Bowie Art Award at Paisley Arts Institute.
