Biography

Francis Boag's vivid depictions of the rural hinterland and coastline of the North East have made him perhaps one of the best loved contemporary painters working in Scotland. A master of colour and form, his canvases are a beautiful balance between an intellectual interpretation of a landscape and an emotional response to it. Francis graduated from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Dundee, in the late sixties going on to persue a career in teaching. He took a sabbatical from teaching at the turn of the century to complete a MA in Fine Art at Gray's School of Art in Aberdeen. He now paints full-time near the coastal village of Stonehaven. His work appears in private and public collections the world over.
