Ian Robertson
Framed 35 x 35 cm
I've been using Screenprinting to make monoprint collages at home for the past few years. I exploit a range of techniques - opacity/translucency of ink, the over layering of varied textures of paper applied with Japanese starch paste, incorporation of drawn images with simple photo stencils or direct application on the screen with water-based mediums. For me this tactile layering of colour, texture and images has parallels in the fugitive light and weather effects I see around me where I live on the North Aberdeenshire coast, or in the patterns of erosion and decay on boat hulls and other characteristic objects and structures of this distinctive coastal environment.
