Kathryn McFarlane is a Scottish contemporary abstract artist who uses colour as a means of self-expression. Kathryn's artistic vision is shaped by her fascination with the interplay between colour, shape, pattern, and texture. The influence of her early training in composition, colour, and balance is evident in her work as a painter. After completing a Graphic Design degree from the Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, she began her career in graphic design and scientific illustration. However, after a career change working in the field of International Trade, her true passion for art finally led her to pursue painting full-time. Kathryn received the Visual Artist and Craft Maker Award in 2022 for a course on colour and to develop a new body of work. Kathryn’s work was recently exhibited at the Spring Exhibition, Six Foot Gallery; Visual Arts Scotland, Borders Art Fair; Spring Exhibition, Six Foot Gallery; Spring Exhibition, Firefly Gallery, and Colours at Aberdeen Artists Society.
