GEORGE BIRRELL

George's vision of Scotland's castles and seaside harbours is colourful, symbolic and highly personalised. As one of Scotland's most recognisable painters his interpretation of Scottish buildings draws on a collective unconscious, fuelled by romantic notions of place, national identity and a bygone world. The exhibition features 22 oil paintings created over a number of months at his East Lothian studio.
