The Manar House Collaboration: Presenting our artists' work in a new and inspiring way

Overview
Creating a space where nature, wellbeing, the arts and sustainability are intrinsically linked.

Manar House sits on rising ground at the foot of local landmark Bennachie. The house is set in 65 acres of stunning Aberdeenshire countryside facing south down to the banks of the River Don. The estate is made up of woodlands, fields, nature trails, formal gardens and a kitchen garden providing glorious countryside views. A truly inspiring setting.

Built in 1811 the building features classic Georgian proportions with large sash windows, beautiful original period details and exquisite countryside views. It was designed by acclaimed Aberdeen architect John Smith, known for his work on Balmoral Castle.

Just three years ago the house was dilapidated and in need of some serious renovation and investment. That's when @HouseofHorspool stepped in. Manar House came on the market just as the Horspool family was looking for its next project. A couple with two young children, they'd promised each other that they would build a life, a home and a business to inspire their daughters.

They have spent the last two years breathing new life into the house and estate doing most of the renovations themselves. Manar House now boasts three classic yet contemporary luxury holiday apartments. It's also available as a shoot location and events hub, hosting yoga retreats and pop up foodie and cultural events.

House of Horspool and Gallery Heinzel are collaborating to demonstrate how original art can enhance an interior, not just to make it look well, but to give it soul...
