FRANCIS BOAG
This is our largest collection of works by Francis Boag in over four years. Working from his studio near Stonehaven in Kincardineshire, he's been inspired by post pandemic travels, other artists, happy holiday memories...and home.
With these works, he's strived to achieve a "looseness" which manifests in serendipitous washes and drips, delicate brush marks and deliberate additions to achieve a balanced composition. His immedate environment seeps into his work both consciously and subconsciously. The net result is a series of paintings that are immediately recognisable as 'Francis Boags' yet are markedly distinct from what's gone before.
We've produced a suite of six videos to accompany this exhibition. In each short presentation he provides valuable background and context that enhances the viewer's understanding – and experiece – of the paintings.
The exhibition opens in person at our Great Western Road gallery, Saturday 23rd of March at 11am and will be published in full here Tuesday 19th March.
