CALUM STEVENSON – THE DANCE STUDIO
It's been two years since CALUM STEVENSON's hugely successful show with Gallery Heinzel at the Dundas Street Gallery in Edinburgh. Since then he's worked on a number of prestigious commissions before turning his attention to this collection of new work.
"The Dance Studio" is a collection of thirteen paintings exploring movement, light, landscape and imagination.
Again Stevenson collaborated with professional dancers using photography, digital technology and pencil sketching to develop his creative and painting techniques.
The artist explains his process in our studio video interview. And in our Q&A blog he describes how his fascination with John Singer Sargent's “Carnation, Lily, Lily, Rose” influenced the use of props and light sources in "Guiding Light".
