Mary May
I am a painter who graduated from Leeds Polytechic in 1987 (BA Hons Fine Art) and Scottish College of Textiles (Dip Industrial Design) in 1990. I work mainly in abstraction, mostly in acrylics. I am drawn to colour and pattern, and work is usually very bright and bold. Over the past two years I have been learning to screenprint and held an artist residency at Women’s Studio Workshop in New York state last autumn where I was able to develop this. I have shown work at the RSA, VAS, SSA, AAS and am a professional member of VAS and SSA. I have enjoyed the challenge of working on these 30 x 30cm pieces and the constraints and possibilities that working small allows.
