Gemma Hare
An Edinburgh College of Art Drawing and Painting graduate, now living in Aberdeen, Gemma Hare seeks inspiration from her surroundings, particularly the natural world. Having recently returned to painting after a two year hiatus to focus on teaching, her current collection of work focuses on the British coast and the experience of visiting the seaside. Gemma’s work explores the atmosphere and the feelings evoked whilst visiting the seaside in an expressive, abstract manner. Using a variety of media including acrylic paint, charcoal and collaged paper, Gemma’s work contains many layers and a variety of marks, creating a sense of depth and texture. Gemma exhibits her work across Scotland. She incorporates elements of drawing, printmaking and collage into her work, and uses fragments of old maps. Gemma enjoys creating paintings which reveal more details the more and closer they are viewed.
