Biography

Allison lives and works in a remote cottage in the highlands where for many years she developed her own style and techniques for building and firing clay. When her youngest son reached school age she decided to attend university studying ceramics at Edinburgh College of Art. For four years she combined studying full-time in the capital with family life in the highlands. Allison works in clay, firing at different temperatures to create pieces of raku, porcelain and stoneware ceramics. Her kilns are fired by bottle gas which is transported by boat across a loch to her home. Her work is both physically and technically challenging - the remoteness of her studio adds to the difficulty.
